An exclusive Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal has included details about the game’s weather system. If you thought Leonida wasn’t already going to be chaotic enough and throw a lot of obstacles your way, we’ve not even factored in actual hurricanes and thunderstorms yet.
Leonida is based on Florida, if you didn’t know. Florida is known for some slightly intense weather, so it’s only fitting that Grand Theft Auto 6 does it justice with the reveal of an extreme weather system.
Thunderstorms & Hurricanes in Grand Theft Auto 6
GameInformer’s exclusive GTA 6 look told us even more crucial details about the sequel, one of which pertains to the game’s enhanced and dynamic weather system.

Jason and Lucia could be caught up in any number of adverse weather distractions, with GameInformer (through Mitch on X) confirming:
‘An updated wind system includes “offshore breezes after sunset, convectional updrafts, and occlusion from buildings,” according to Shepherd. “Hair and debris will swirl around on roof-tops; gusts of wind will blow ripples over the water surface and bend the grass in swamps.”
And yes, Leonida will indeed experience tropical storms and hurricanes. Although Shepherd doesn’t share how often these major storms occur and how gameplay or the story will be impacted, he paints a picture of how they will be depicted, saying that “heavy clouds, strong winds, dense atmospherics, and a lot of rain combine so that everything is dripping wet, water is gushing off roof edges and lampposts, thunder rumbles and flashes of lightning light up the clouds dramatically.’
