A new announcement confirms that Sony and its affiliates will not be part of CES for the first time since 1967.
CES, or the Consumer Electronics Show, is a highly popular annual global trade-only tech conference. Every January, the event is held in Las Vegas, Nevada, where many of the big players showcase new products. Sony has had something to showcase ever since the inaugural event, but has now chosen to skip the 2027 iteration of CES.
Sony Skipping CES 2027 to Focus on Entertainment
A recent Bloomberg report confirms that Sony and its affiliates will not be exhibiting at CES 2027 in January. A Sony spokesperson said the company has been strategically assessing its approach to events and communications based on its business needs and priorities. The statement highlighted that Sony is increasingly focusing on entertainment, intellectual property, and technology designed to support creators.

Sony has participated in CES every year since its inception in 1967. However, this year, the company did not have a booth at the event and only showcased its Afeela electric vehicle, developed in partnership with Honda. Since then, that project has been scrapped, and now both companies are reevaluating the future of their joint venture. With the company’s focus moving more towards gaming, music, and other forms of media, it’s been decided that CES is not a strategic event for the business.
