Recently, the internet was set ablaze as Rockstar Games unveiled a $400 ‘Collectors’ Box’ for Grand Theft Auto 6, sans the actual game. While that makes sense, because it’s not a collector’s edition, it didn’t stop all and sundry from taking to social media to lambast the developer and cry out about the price of said collector’s items.
Not everyone is willing to part ways with that much cash to get their hands on these collectibles, though. In a follow-up post on socials that landed just one day after the announcement, one tech-savvy individual has started 3D printing one of the lead items in the box.
Fine, I’ll Do It Myself
The GTA 6 Collector’s Box admittedly comes with a vast array of items, but it is a pretty penny. That hasn’t stopped people from getting their pre-orders in, though.
Here’s what’s in ‘The Goodtime State Vice City Collection’ box:
- Macca the Gator Figure
- Oakley® Frogskins™ Sunglasses
- Leonida Keys Crossbody Bag
- New Era® 9FORTY Snapback Hat
- Macca the Gator Magnetic Mirror
- Chunkee the Manatee Shot Glass
- Vice City Collectible Swizzle Spoon
- Vice City Razor Blade Keychain
- Leonida Keys Enamel Pin Set in Metal Tin
- Leonida Keys Sticker Pack in Stash Bag
- Double-Sided Souvenir Poster with Map of Leonida
As you can see, the opening item on that list is ‘Macca the Gator Figure’, a pink alligator figurine toting a cocktail and a joint and sporting a hidden compartment in the base.
That was revealed yesterday, and today one user leapt onto social media to reveal they’d already 3D printed Macca based on little more than pre-release imagery.
As long as it’s for personal use, then there might not be a problem, but if the user decides to market this in any way, they might need to expect a knock on their door from Take-Two’s lawyers at some point.
What is known is that the design that you’d need to 3D print this yourself at home is out there and ready for public consumption…
Time will tell if anyone manages to ape anything else in the GTA 6 Collector’s Box.
