There’s some confusion around Gears of War: E-Day’s PS5 version, with one insider saying it’s not coming and the other pointing to evidence of a physical release on the platform.
We are just hours away from today’s event, the Xbox Games Showcase, which will be followed directly by a Gears of War: E-Day Direct. By then, everything will be clarified. However, just a few hours before this event, some conflicting reports surfaced online regarding the PS5 release of the upcoming title.
Gears of War E-Day PS5 Release Was Planned, but Now Canceled
The first claim comes from Jeff Grubb on the Giant Bomb podcast (via Wario64), who stated that a PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day existed but has been canceled. During the episode, Grubb stated, “Gears of War: E-Day was gonna be on PS5. It’s not anymore. That just happened. That was a decision that just got made.” Grubb is great with XBOX-related stuff, so players will definitely believe him when he says the PS5 release has been canceled.
Gears of War E-Day PS5 Physical Edition Evidence and Rating Found
Then comes in billbil-kun from Dealabs, and they have some conflicting findings. Their report states that “the SKU for the PS5 physical version of Gears of War: E-Day does indeed exist”. It has also been assigned a UPC; however, Billbil-kun has also added that they are unsure whether the identifier will be retained or removed. Additionally, Gears of War: E-Day has been rated by PEGI for PS5, and the rating has appeared today across all platforms.
It’s difficult to confirm whether the PS5 release for Gears of War: E-Day is still coming or whether XBOX is going the exclusive route. Could it be a result of the PlayStation CEO’s decision to no longer release single-player games on PC? We don’t know, but all the confusion about Gears of War: E-Day’s PS5 release should be cleared later tonight.
In other news, a shameless Gears of War and Dead Space clone had appeared on the Nintendo eShop last month. What are your thoughts on Gears of War: E-Day’s PS5 release? Leave your thoughts down in the comments, and join the official Insider Gaming Discord server.
