G2 Suddenly Replace Dylan Falco With Perkz as LEC Coach and Nobody Believes It

G2 Esports has shockingly announced that it is benching long-time League of Legends head coach Dylan Falco, and nobody knows if they’re joking or not.

In his place, legendary retired pro Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković will supposedly become the team’s new LoL head coach ahead of the Esport World Cup and LEC Summer Split.

This sudden decision comes on the same day as G2’s MSI elimination after a humbling 3-0 defeat by LCS Champions LYON.

The loss particularly stung as G2 had recorded their first victory over T1 in seven years in their previous match.

Dylan Falco and Perkz’s Coaching History

Dylan Falco is considered one of the best LoL coaches in the west.

He has been with G2 for over 4 and a half years, leading G2 to eleven LEC trophies and a second place at First Stand in that time.

That’s in addition to the two EU LCS titles he won with Fnatic and current G2 midlaner Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther.

However, the team failed to reach an MSI or Worlds final under his leadership.

G2 tweeted that Dylan Falco is still part of the organisation but is no longer on the active roster, promising that a proper goodbye video will be posted when he officially leaves.

Falco’s contract was extended earlier this year through to the end of the 2027 season.

Meanwhile, Perkz will suddenly stand in for his first head coach role with his first match coming July 15 at EWC 2026.

Perkz recently returned to G2 as a positional coach for the LEC Spring Split, helping the organisation to a 19th LEC trophy.

Other than last split, he does not have any coaching experience, but he did help G2 win eight LEC trophies and one MSI trophy as a player.

Is G2 Actually Benching Dylan Falco?

Considering Falco’s reputation and G2’s brand of trolling and joking, it’s understandable that many are in disbelief.

Another veteran LoL coach, Peter Dun, expressed his doubts on Twitter, saying:

“Don’t let the G2 stuff about Dylan leaving fool you. He’s probably just taking a break before Summer and thus skipping EWC.

“If Dylan was not G2’s coach, KC would have won two splits this year. And I don’t say this lightly, both series were close enough that coaching staff was the difference.

“It’s obvious what his impact is. G2 are not stupid.”

For now, there has been no further confirmation from G2. Insider Gaming has reached out to the organisation for comment.
