European League of Legends esports icon Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković made a surpirse return to G2 Esports during the LEC Spring Split Playoffs.
He was unexpectedly part of the trophy celebrations as G2 defeated Karmine Corp 3-2 to win the 2026 Spring Split.
The former midlaner and botlaner won eight LEC/EU LCS trophies and the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational with the team as a player.
Almost exactly one year ago, Perkz announced his retirement from LoL esports following stints with Team Heretics and the Ruddy Sack.
However, he has now helped G2 win another domestic title, as it was revealed he has quietly been helping the LEC team’s coaching staff.
Perkz Joins G2 LEC Coaching Staff
During a post-series interview on the LEC broadcast, Perkz revealed he had been helping the team since the early weeks of the Spring regular season.
“It’s been a great experience to be able to share some of my experiences and things I’ve learnt in the past to help G2 reach new heights,” Perkz said.
The interview reunited Perkz on camera with his former teammate Rasmus ‘Caps’ Winther.
Perkz was the star player of G2 but unselfishly role-swapped to ADC to make room for Caps, as they went on to win MSI and reach a Worlds final together.
Speaking on working with Perkz again, Caps said:
“We’ve been working well together. Obviously, I’ve worked with Perkz before, so we have a lot of similar experiences and the same ideas on how we want to play out the game.”
“I think he helped a lot in making us a bit more aggressive as well, because at times we were too disciplined to save Dragon,” Caps added.
Perkz will presumably now travel with the team to Daejeon, Korea, for MSI 2026.
