Star Wars Droid Tycoon has become one of the hottest modes across all of Fortnite, and the never-ending grind to upgrade Droids is putting a lot of players in a spin.
Epic Games‘ close partnership with Disney has resulted in a flood of Star Wars-themed games entering Fortnite Creative, with Droid Tycoon quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular, with an addictive gameplay loop.
You don’t need to wait around for the exact Droid you need to spawn on the Sandcrawler, however, and there are ways to directly upgrade your Droids.
How to Upgrade Droids in Star Wars Droid Tycoon

Droids in Star Wars Droid Tycoon in Fortnite can be upgraded by interacting with the Droid found waiting in a building directly behind the Cantina.
To find this location, the easiest way is to head to the Cantina and exit from the right-hand side of the bar, moving around the edge of the building until you reach the Droid to interact with. When you speak to it, it will display the next upgrade available for the Droid you have equipped as your companion and the required amount of Upgrade Chips.

The rarer the Droid, the more Upgrade Chips it takes, but this provides a direct way to grind for exactly what you are chasing, rather than hoping RNG is on your side at the Sandcrawler, or through Astromech Missions or Daily Mission rewards.
Additionally, there is another way to upgrade Droids that doesn’t cost anything, though you need luck to be on your side. Inside the Cantina, on the left-side of the bar, you can interact with a Pit Droid to test your luck in securing the next upgrade level for your Droid, with a percentage chance shown.
This can only be done once per day; however, it’s worth checking back daily to try and get a free upgrade.
How Much Does it Cost to Upgrade Droids in Star Wars Droid Tycoon?
The cost to upgrade Droids in Droid Tycoon varies significantly, with Common Droids taking just 40 total Upgrade Chips to upgrade from Base level through to Diamond, while Legendary Droids require thousands.
Given the cost of the higher-rarity Droids, it’s worthwhile saving all of your Upgrade Chips to upgrade Legendary Droids, and waiting for Common, Rare, and Epic spawns at the Sandcrawler conveyor.
