Recently, a shock tidbit of news sprang up when it was claimed that Fairgames, an upcoming third-person PlayStation shooter from Haven Studios, had been cancelled. This news came courtesy of Michael Pachter, a prolific industry analyst who was speaking during his Pachter Factor podcast.
However, Pachter has now come out to retract his statement and issue an apology for the confusion. As far as we know, Fairgames (stylized as ‘Fairgame$’) hasn’t been cancelled.
Is Fairgames Still Coming Out?
From what we know, Fairgames is still coming out despite the recent departure of the studio’s founder, Jade Raymond.
This is what led Michael Pachter to make the claim about Fairgames, jumping to a conclusion that the game must be cancelled as the studio’s founder has departed the business.
As Pachter’s statement spread like wildfire on social media, the analyst was contacted by Destin Legarie for clarification:
I misspoke. Said Jade was let go, and assumed it was cancelled. I have no info on the game at all. Feel free to quote this, I truly don’t know.
Earlier this year, it was claimed that Fairgames had been pushed back to 2026 as early testing phases started cropping up. The game, which was revealed in 2023, will be Haven Studios’ first title, and it’s expected to be a typical live-service shooter under the PlayStation banner.
Because those have panned out so well in recent years…
When it was revealed, I wrote:
It’s poised to offer up a fresh multiplayer gaming experience, with players having the ability to launch intense, ambitious heists with their friends while fighting to secure riches against other players in the same environment. It looks bright, it looks innovative, and it’s the first new IP from Haven Studios.
Fairgames is still on the horizon, for now. Are you looking forward to the heist-based shooter? Let me know your thoughts on the Insider Gaming forum.
