Guillaume Broche, the creative director behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is opening up about the hopes for Sandfall Interactives’ next project. He says he’s aware that the game may not be the smashing success that Expedition 33 was, but that’s okay.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was undoubtedly one of the most successful games of 2025. It even won several Game of the Year Awards. So many awards were won that it surpassed the previous record set by Elden Ring.
As players begin to wonder what may be next for Sandfall Interactive, Broche is discussing the great shadow cast by the development team’s previous game and why he’s okay with the next project having a more modest level of success if that’s what comes of it.

Sandfall Interactive Isn’t Chasing Another Expedition 33 Hit

Guillaume Broche was interviewed by Konbini and revealed that the studio plans to just do what they love once again. He went on to say that he doesn’t care if the next title they produce is considered a commercial failure compared to Expedition 33, admitting that the first title wasn’t necessarily meant to be a critical success.
“I don’t really care. It’s weird to say, but we didn’t make the first game to please anyone. I think that’s why it worked,” he said (h/t: GamesRadar+). “For the next game, [Sandfall] will make some drastic decisions, too, and maybe people won’t like it. That’s life. Whether people follow us or not is their decision. But that’s how we see the future.”
