Hardcore Apocalyptic Shooter ‘Scavland’ Hits 175,000 Wishlists Days Before Launch

On September 4, Scavland enters early access exclusively on PC, and it’s shaping up to be a unique and thoroughly entertaining post-apocalyptic shooter. It’s a top-down pixel art game inspired by the likes of Tibia, STALKER, Metro, and Escape from Tarkov, and it has been pieced together over six years of development.

In a post on social media, the team just revealed that the game has hit 175,000 wishlists as the early access window approaches, with the game managing to build immense traction.

Scavland Alters The Post-Apocalyptic Formula

Let’s be honest, post-apocalyptic shooters are a dime a dozen these days. If you open Steam and filter by those associated tags, you’ll be presented with thousands of games, but Scavland really feelsl ike it’s trying something different.

From the art style to the hardcore operating model, and from the procedurally generated dungeons to the pixel art weapon customization mechanics, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into.

Further to that, this game has been designed to be playable basically anywhere, on anything. It’s Steam Deck-ready and has such a forgiving minimum spec array that you’ll be able to run it on any gaming handheld.

I mean, it requires a 2.77GHz quad-core CPU, 4 GB of RAM, and a 2 GB GPU, and it takes up just 1 GB of storage. I think I could run that on my refrigerator, so it’ll be a dream to play it on a ROG Ally X while travelling.

What’s pulling me into this game is the retro appeal. It boasts charming throwback visuals that remind me of games gone by, especially Tibia and Ultima Online, and the sprites, character assets, maps, and the UI all scream ‘nostalgia trip’.

We don’t know yet how much Scavland will cost, but it shouldn’t be too much. Reminder: this game hits early access on September 3rd, and you can add to the 175,000 wishlists here on Steam.
