Epic Games to Release ARC Raiders-Style Disney Game This Year

Epic Games is pinning a Fortnite resurgence on the Disney partnership. Recently, Epic laid off 1,000 employees and announced it would shut down several Fortnite game modes.

Now, a new report provides some insight into what’s next for the company, and the hope that partnering with the Walt Disney Company can provide a boost.

Epic Planning Disney-Themed ARC Raiders-Like Shooter

According to a new Bloomberg report, four current and former Epic employees say the company is on track to launch the first game under its new Disney partnership in November. The game is slated to be an Extraction Shooter like ARC Raiders. Disney characters are slated to battle enemies until they reach an extraction point.

However, there could be trouble on the horizon.

“So far, internal reviewers have expressed concerns that the game mechanics are not very original, but some of the employees are optimistic that Epic will get it right by the launch date,” the report says.

Epic Games Partnership Led to Increased Disney+ Subscriptions

Epic is reportedly banking on its comeback coming from games developed in partnership with Disney. Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic two years ago. This Disney collaboration will produce at least two additional games.

“We remain focused on our long-term collaboration with Epic, which continues to have strong momentum, and our work to build a transformational games and entertainment universe remains unchanged,” said a Disney spokesperson.

As part of the agreement, content from Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar, and Pixar will be added to Fortnite. Collaborations between Fortnite and the Epic Games Store have reportedly contributed to an unexpected increase in Disney+ subscriptions.

Insider Gaming will continue to provide news on the upcoming shooter as more information becomes available.

  • Honestly I get thr comment above this saying that this is cringe. But at the same time, Epic/Fortnite have done nothing but prove they will highjack any gamer mechanic and put it into Fortnite, and they usually do a pretty damn good job of it honestly. Yes this could be cringe AF, but at the same time, as someone who loves Arc Raiders… If they can pull this off and continue to bring content to it regularly, the game could end up being a success… They have a playerbase with a huge age span from kids to adults that has a connection with all of the normies already.
My biggest doubt would probably be the maps… would they be able to make maps as good as Arc Raiders has? Even though AR is made in Unreal, the maps they made are so damn good compared to anyone else at a huge scale and detailed.
