Techland has unveiled The Breach, an all-new content initiative for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, the 2022 open-world zombie-slaying RPG. This UGC drive encourages, empowers, and enables the community to fuel the future of Dying Light 2 by facilitating collaboration, cataloguing the best UGC, and making imaginative innovations much more accessible.
In the next patch, 1.28, players will see the first chapter of this initiative, Survival Archives, launch. Tolga and Fatin come back into the fold after tearing the fabric of the universe, pulling in alternate maps, fresh experiences, and unexpected twists to the Dying Light universe.
Techland has said this initiative will ‘twist the core formula in ways the main game never could.’
The Breach Hits Dying Light 2
Patch 1.28 isn’t just about The Breach, but that’s the beating heart of the update. The team at Techland has also made various tweaks to the game’s visuals, lighting, and color balancing, all with the goal of ‘improving immersion and bringing the tone closer to the broader Dying Light universe.’
The early game loop has been upgraded to ‘make Dying Light 2: Stay Human feel as smooth and gripping as possible’, and the onboarding systems have been overhauled.
With that said, the prologue has been made shorter, early game enemies have been made a little more forgiving, and the UI has been tweaked to make it more understandable off the bat.
The Breach will allow players to absorb new experiences, rack up XP, and unlock exclusive rewards, but the base game has also undergone these changes to show players that the original experience hasn’t been forgotten.
Techland advised that this new UGC initiative has been built on three core pillars:
- Curated by Techland. Every chapter is reviewed, selected, and shipped with our studio’s stamp.
- Powered by fans. Selected creators work directly with our developers, and the wider community shapes the content pool.
- Always something new. Themed worlds drop on a rolling schedule with new rewards in every chapter.
Rafal Polito, the UGC Program Manager at Techland, said:
At Techland, we’ve always looked for new ways to innovate, and we see tremendous potential in UGC. By providing players with the right framework and tools, we’re enabling them to create and share new experiences within the world of Dying Light 2: Stay Human.
We sat down with Rafal Polito to learn about the importance of this initiative and what it means for the wider Dying Light universe.

The roadmap for The Breach will see a new ‘reality’ emerge every week, with the following schedule:
- Atomborne: Soulslike, Climactic, Supernatural (Jun 10 – 18)
- Dead Circuit: Sneak, Sci-Fi, Suspense (Jun 18 – 25)
- Archipelago: Treasure Hunt, Exploration, Atmospheric (Jun 25 – Jul 02)
- Silent Apartment: Suspense, Mystery, Gore (Jul 2 – 9)
What’s most interesting is the imminent arrival of a third-person perspective mod, built officially by Techland. This opens up an entirely new way to explore Dying Light 2.
