Donkey Kong Bananza is the latest Nintendo 3D platformer, and players want to know if they can take on the journey with a friend.
Donkey Kong Bananza is the first 3D game in the series since Donkey Kong 64, released in 1999, and the first standalone game for the beloved Nintendo character since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which launched seven years ago.
Bananza follows the story of Donkey Kong after the planet he is on discovers a treasure trove of golden bananas. A group of miners, known as VoidCo, steals the bananas, and Donkey Kong embarks on a journey to retrieve them. However, he isn’t on this mission alone, as Pauline accompanies him because she wants to discover a way to reach the surface again. Pauline’s presence raises the question of whether you can play as her, and Nintendo provided an answer.
Can You Play Donkey Kong Bananza Co-Op?

Donkey Kong Bananza supports offline and online co-op.
Offline, you can share a Joy-Con 2 controller with a friend to have them play as Pauline. As the young singer, you can unleash vocal blasts, using the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. You can also copy the material of terrain objects to increase the power of your blasts.
Donkey Kong Bananza also supports GameShare, meaning your friend can play with you locally, even if they don’t own the game. The game can also be shared locally to a Nintendo Switch 1 through GameShare.
In addition, you can play online with a friend using GameShare and talk to them using GameChat, even if they don’t own the game.
You don’t need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to use GameShare offline, but you do to use GameChat online. It’s also worth noting that playing as Pauline is the only cooperative experience. This will be disappointing news for those who expected more, but it’s still a nice way to have a friend join for free.
