Donkey Kong Bananza Direct Announced By Nintendo

Nintendo is offering an in-depth look at the upcoming Switch 2 title, Donkey Kong Bananza, in a special Direct showcase later this week.

Donkey Kong Bananza releases as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive on July 17, and for those sitting on the fence on whether to grab the game, a special direct is being showcased on Wednesday, first reveal on the Nintendo Today! App.

The presentation will feature “roughly 15 minutes of information” about the title, which is the second big Switch 2 exclusive following Mario Kart World earlier this month, to provide a deeper look at the game.

For fans of Donkey Kong, it’s been a long wait for a new game centred on everyone’s favorite gorilla, with the last title being Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in 2014.

Those waiting for a new Donkey Kong 3D platformer have endured an even longer wait, with the last such title being Donkey Kong 64 in 1999.

Great Expectations

Donkey Kong Bananza has earned comparisons to Super Mario Odyssey, raising further excitement for the title, though we haven’t seen too much since it was initially revealed in April’s Nintendo Direct.

Bananza’s Direct showcase will change that, however, and it continues Nintendo’s recent trend of showcasing games in individual Directs, having done the same with Mario Kart World in April.

Nintendo will be in attendance at Gamescom in August, however, so expect to see more news there, while there will also be plenty to digest in next month’s Pokémon Presents.
