A reliable source has claimed that new Nintendo Switch 2 games are not being announced due to a dev kit delay.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is already out, and players are now waiting for an announcement on new games for the console. Recently, we learned that a Nintendo Direct is reportedly scheduled for later in July, where we may learn more about upcoming games. The same source has claimed that one reason for the delay could be that developers are not receiving Switch 2 dev kits.
A Lot of Developers are Yet to Receive a Switch 2 Dev Kit
Spotted by The Gamer, the latest podcast on Nate the Hate’s YouTube channel talks about challenges related to new game announcements on the Switch 2. It was first pointed out that only a third of the developers who have made games for the original Switch have received dev kits; the rest are still waiting for an update from Nintendo. Many of these developers wish to either enhance their Switch 1 titles for the Switch 2 or create new games for the latest console.
Nate adds that it is not just indie developers who haven’t received Switch 2 dev kits; several “double-A and low triple-A” devs also currently lack access. The insider also talks about studios like Capcom, Sega, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, and more are just “waiting” to announce new games for the console. They are going to bring a lot of support to the platform, and Nate also added that Microsoft, “at least pre-layoffs, was a publisher who was going to bring games to the system”.
In other news, Nascar 25 on Nintendo Switch was “never really a plan“. Additionally, a Nintendo user was recently banned for playing a used game on the Switch. What are your thoughts on Nintendo Switch 2 dev kits being delayed? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
