Former WWE Superstar and the MCU’s Drax, Dave Bautista, is in talks to replace Ryan Hurst as Kratos in the upcoming Prime Video God of War series.
This news was first reported by Variety and follows Ryan Hurst’s on-set injury, which necessitated recasting to avoid delaying the series’ production. The hope right now is that the series will be back in production by the end of this year.

Dave Bautista Could Bring Kratos to Life in God of War Series
Bautista is known not only for his time as Drax and his imposing physique during his wrestling days, when he was a world champion several times in WWE, but also for playing a major role in a James Bond film, Mr. Hinx in “Spectre.” He seems like a natural fit for a role like this. His physique has changed over the years, but he’d be no stranger to rebuilding mass, should he take on the role.
The series was previously greenlit for two seasons at Prime Video, and the cast includes Ólafur Ólafsson as Thor and Mandy Patinkin as Odin. The Variety article notes that Callum Vinson remains attached to play Atreus, the son of Kratos, though there had been reports of talks to recast the role as well.
