Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s director has revealed that the ending could be faithful to the original or something completely different.
During a recent interview, the FF7 Remake series director, Naoki Hamaguchi, was asked multiple questions about the ending of the final installment in the series. Hamaguchi confirmed that the story would be concluded in the main game and also addressed a hypothetical DLC; however, he didn’t give away any details about the ending itself.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Ending Could Be ‘Something Completely Different’
In an interview with Automaton (via GamesRadar+), Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi was asked about the final installment’s ending. To which Hamaguchi responded, stating, “I have never told any media outlet about what kind of ending FFVII Revelation will have.”
The director explained that he wants players to focus on more than just the ending of the game. He aims to create an experience that leaves players feeling, “I’m glad they made the Remake series,” or “I’m glad I was able to see the FFVII Remake series through to the end.”
Hamaguchi revealed he can’t confirm any details on the ending, stating, “The ending might be fully faithful to the original, or it might end up being something completely different. Or perhaps, it might go in a direction no one could have imagined in the first place. I’d like everyone to experience it for themselves.”
The director was asked if the definitive ending of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series could lead to the events of Advent Children. He responded by saying, “We aren’t denying the possibility of the FFVII AC ending.” However, he emphasized that the aim of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is to create a “new overarching universe that encompasses the lore of the various spin-offs” that have been released over the years. These spin-offs include not only Advent Children but also Dirge of Cerberus and Crisis Core.
Hence, the team can’t deny the possibility of FF7 Advent Children tying into the ending, but they are saying that it has been “incorporated into the overarching FFVII remake series, including the ending.”
