Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s director has stated that they cannot confirm whether the game will receive a physical release.
Since Sony announced that it will stop producing physical discs for PlayStation games in 2028, many fans have begun to question whether upcoming titles will have a physical release. One such title is Square Enix’s final installment of the FF7 Remake series. Although it is scheduled for release in 2027, the devs can’t definitively say it will be available in physical format.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Physical Release Can’t Be Confirmed Even Though It Releases in Spring 2027
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, addressed concerns about the game’s physical release. He mentioned that discussions are still ongoing regarding the exact SKU product lineup for Revelation. As a result, they cannot provide a definitive answer at this time. However, Hamaguchi is working to arrange “some kind of physical edition” for the game.
Hamaguchi also provided his personal views on the subject. The FF7 Remake series director first stated that he feels, as a developer and fan, that the general trend is “shifting away from physical towards downloadable games.” However, that’s talking about the trend; personally, he really loves seeing people bring physical things and ask for autographs at Fan Fests and community events. He thinks that’s a “wonderful culture and it would be a shame to lose that.” Hamaguchi concluded, stating he wants that to remain.
