Final Fantasy 7 Revelation‘s director says players won’t need DLC to see the remake trilogy’s proper conclusion.
Final Fantasy 7 director Naoki Hamaguchi hasn’t been shy about his plans to move on from the trilogy following the release of Revelation in 2027. Still, with modern games sometimes ending on a cliffhanger that concludes with DLC, he is taking the time to reassure players that the upcoming game won’t end that way.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Director Talks Vision for ‘Hypothetical’ DLC
The latest comments on the potential for DLC come from an interview with Hamaguchi conducted by Automation Media. He admits that players expect DLC, and he knows that fans don’t necessarily want to see the story end just yet. Be that as it may, DLC plans aren’t set in stone yet.
Hamaguchi was then asked whether a potential DLC would host the trilogy’s true ending. He shot this down and promised that the game would be concluded with the main game, and they are very serious about ending the trilogy here. He also laid out his vision for potential DLC.
The story will be concluded within the main game. We’re serious about concluding the series with FFVII Revelation, and we’re proceeding with development with that goal in mind.
If we were to hypothetically release any DLC, we would likely want to create a kind of spin-off focused on a specific character that depicts their untold stories, kind of like what we did with Yuffie with FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, and I think there is demand for it among fans. So, in case we do end up considering making a DLC, this is the kind of thing that we’d likely attempt to do.
