Fallout: New California Release Will Keep More Fans Busy Until Fallout 5

Okay, maybe not until Fallout 5 comes out, considering that might not be until 2035, but Fallout: New California will occupy a fair chunk of your time in the short term, at least. This gargantuan Fallout: New Vegas prequel has just hit GOG as a one-click mod, surfacing as part of the platform’s admirable Game Preservation initiative.

In Fallout: New California, which is one of the most ambitious mod projects ever made, players venture to an entirely new region, explore an uncovered wasteland, and follow an original story featuring full voice acting, a dynamic radio, and eight companions.

Fallout: New California Should Keep You Going

Fallout is running wild right now. In recent weeks, Bethesda Game Studios revealed the future of the franchise, setting out a roadmap containing Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, expansions to Fallout 76 and Fallout Shelter, and, of course, the eventual arrival of Fallout 5.

It’s a great time to be a Fallout fan, as the live-action adaptation on Prime Video is in the midst of filming its third season, and there’s a brand-new Fallout Shelter reality show in production now too.

But what about right now?

Well, thanks to GOG, you can hop over and complete a one-click install process to get your hands on Fallout: New California, one of the most beloved and iconic game-sized mod packages to ever hit Fallout: New Vegas.

In Fallout: New California, you start a journey as an all-new character in Vault 18, making your way out into the California wasteland to discover an original and intriguing story. Along the way, you’ll meet and fight the NCR, the Enclave, raiders, and super mutants, and you’ll undertake this journey alongside eight fresh companions.

Here’s an old trailer for the expansion, the first part of which surfaced way back in 2013:

The second and final segment of Fallout: New California (there were three planned in total) landed in 2018, and now, it has all been released once again on GOG.

As one of the highest-rated Fallout mods ever made, New California is well worth your time.
