Escape from Tarkov’s next big update is centered around delivering the game’s first season. It’s an all-new way to play the game, presenting players with a standalone character altered by modifiers and allowing them to use that character for a few months before it’s gone forever.
During that month, players can work their way through a new battle pass system, which is as typical as you can imagine. Recently, Battlestate Games started teasing the rewards within that battle pass, including one weapon that many believe is a war crime.
It’s not, but that’s the myth that many have fallen for over the years.
Jagdkommando Knife is Coming to Tarkov
Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, posted a teaser image of some of the content coming in Kord Breach’s season pass. That’s the name of the first official Escape from Tarkov season, which is set to arrive on August 3rd.
In the image, we see a reward list comprised of a unique dogtag, some Tarcoins, a trading card of some kind, a loot box, and the Microtech Jagdkommando Knife.
This triple-bladed, twisted dagger is a vicious-looking weapon that is traditionally wielded by the Austrian special forces, and it has built up a strange legacy over the years. For the longest time, it has been believed that the Jagdkommando represents a war crime because it ’causes unnecessary suffering’, inflicting wounds that are nearly impossible to address.
Historically, many have claimed that the Geneva Convention banned the Jagdkommando knife, but that’s not the case. It’s certainly a unique weapon, but it’s not subject to any additional regulations simply because it’s a twisted, multi-edged knife.
It’s probably going to be one of the most sought-after items in the new battle pass, though. It looks so damn cool, if that’s your kind of thing.
