Call of Duty: Warzone has arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 with a surprise launch. The game is now available on the Nintendo eShop. Players don’t need to buy Modern Warfare 4 to access it.
The Battle Royale is free to play and marks the latest step in Call of Duty’s return to Nintendo platforms. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was the first game in the series to be released on Nintendo hardware since Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U.
Call of Duty: Warzone Was Recently Shut Down on Previous-Generation Consoles: Sony PlayStation 4 and XBOX One

While the launch of Warzone coincided with the first season of Modern Warfare 4, another change occurred in November 2026 regarding the free-to-play battle royale. Starting with this new season, Warzone no longer supports the Sony PlayStation 4 and XBOX One generation.
Yesterday, November 6, the server for those consoles was permanently shut down. This is disappointing for players who haven’t yet upgraded to current-generation consoles, but they can keep their progress on any supported hardware as long as they use the same Activision account. There is good news, however. Players can try the Modern Warfare 4 DMZ for free until November 11. Learn more about that here.
