Grand Theft Auto 6 is mere days away from hitting the market, introducing the most monumental iteration in Rockstar’s open-world crime-action franchise that we’ve ever seen. It’s poised to be the fastest-selling, most globally impactful game ever, and it’s easily going to both set and shatter records on the day and beyond.
But what about Game of the Year discussions? Will Grand Theft Auto 6 have the chops to win major awards this year? According to the vast majority of users trading within The Game Awards’ markets on Polymarket, there’s an 89% chance it’s happening at the grandest show of them all.
Will GTA 6 Win Game of the Year?
Grand Theft Auto 6 has a chance of being nominated for and winning Game of the Year at The Game Awards simply because it launches a couple of days before the ‘cut-off point’ for submissions/nominations. For many, the game is already a shoo-in, even if it’s still a couple of weeks away from being in everyone’s hands.
If I were a gambling man, I’d suggest that GTA 6 will scoop a mess of awards. Game design, music, narrative, actors, direction, action game, and so on. There are stacks of categories that GTA 6 could be nominated for.
On Polymarket, traders have invested a lot in Grand Theft Auto 6, which has culminated in the game having, at the time of writing, an 89% chance of landing Game of the Year at The Game Awards. It’s followed by Resident Evil Requiem with a 7% chance, and Phantom Blade Zero with a 3% chance.

Additionally, GTA 6 has a 53% chance to win Best Audio Design, a 55% chance of winning Best Narrative, and a 70% chance of winning Best Game Direction, according to Polymarket users.
In other areas, 96% of users think GTA will break first-day sales records, and 100% of users think it’s going to score more than 92 on Metacritic.
