Incursion Red River Hits New All-Time High Player Count As 1.4 Update Impresses

Incursion Red River, an early-access extraction shooter with a PvE-focused operating model, has hit a new all-time high peak player count on Steam. The title, which hit 1.0 in April 2024 after several months as a demo, recently transitioned to 1.4, with the developer introducing a major update that overhauled many aspects of the base game and added a new map and ways to play.

This update represented a huge leap forward for the title, and it has been taken very well by fans. That, combined with a hefty discount on Steam, has pushed the game to new heights on the platform.

Incursion Red River Glows on Steam

Incursion Red River is, in my opinion, a hugely underrated extraction shooter. It’s not yet at the lofty heights of an Escape from Tarkov or an ARC Raiders, but it has managed to maintain a solid core following for a couple of years. And now, with the latest major update, more players are noticing the value in the game.

It’s undoubtedly the best PvE-exclusive extraction shooter out there, offering a strong gameplay loop that features a campaign backed by the vocal talents of Jane Perry, a hideout progression mechanic, dynamic events, and a diverse looter-shooter operating model. There are plenty of weapons to enjoy, factions to liaise with, and the game’s AI makes for a decent challenge.

And the best part about it being a PvE game is that you have control over your experience. If it’s too easy or too tough, you can adjust the difficulty level to suit your needs.

On Steam, the game managed to reach a new all-time high player count amid the rollout of the 1.4 update, indicating the evolution of the game overall. I’ve been playing Incursion Red River since the first demo dropped during Steam Next Fest years ago, and I can attest to the growth this game is seeing.
