There were going to be more “big brand” skins in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, but some have ended up being cancelled. In an interview with CharlieIntel, Treyarch Senior Director of Production, Yale Miller, spoke about the reaction to the skins from Black Ops 6 and turning down collaborations.
“There are opportunities that we have had lined up that, after some of our conversations, we straight up turned down. Big, big brands, big things, and we’re like, no. We’re not gonna do that because it just doesn’t fit,” said Miller, while not mentioning any specific cancelled collabs.
Miller said that the team isn’t looking for “grounded” skins with Call of Duty. Instead, he said, it’s about finding things that “make sense for Black Ops 7.
One example of a skin that Miller says fits Black Ops is the T.E.D.D. Operator. Miller said that the T.E.D.D. skin isn’t “grounded”, but when people saw the skin, they felt it belonged in Black Ops. It’s worth mentioning, however, that the T.E.D.D. operator, which is available for those who buy the Vault Edition of Black Ops 7, did get a slight update based on player feedback
“All intentions [are] to stick to stuff that we can hand on our heart, say, yeah, that feels Black Ops,” Miller told the outlet. “That’s really our goal. And I think that’s a good clarification versus grounded.”
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launches on November 14 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game’s beta begins on October 2 for those who pre-order with it opening up to everyone on October 5.
