Bungie Head Teases Destiny Fans With Remaster & PC Release

A Destiny 1 remaster would be absolutely seismic for the franchise’s fans, and the series’ future as a whole. After recent revelations that Bungie will carry on Destiny, the newly opened window about a Destiny remaster doesn’t seem impossible.

May 2026 saw Bungie announce that it was ending active development on new Destiny 2 content, and as a presumed knock-on effect on the franchise in general, with no talk of a Destiny 3. Protests happened, Marathon continued to dwindle, and only a few months later, Bungie announced it was ‘not done with Destiny.’

Could we get a Destiny 1 remaster?

Bungie Head of Product Josh Deane—who’s been with Bungie for seven years and had various roles, including Destiny Universe Franchise Director—happened to catch a glimpse of a fan-made Destiny 1 video.

It was ‘Destiny 1 running at 4k, 60 fps and 105 FOV on PC,’ as shown by YouTube account Flummoxed.

Deane quoted the social media post showing the YouTube video and added a terrific vaguepost comment: ‘Seems like a pretty game, wonder if it will do well…’

At the very least, he’s seen it. He knows what it looks like, and more importantly, what does ‘wonder if it will do well’ mean? It might be semantics, but surely it should be ‘wonder if it would do well?’ This insinuates there are already plans, again, unless we’re being teased.

Does this mean Destiny 1 is already in development? Or that the idea is already in the works? Is he giving false hope to hundreds of thousands and millions of Destiny fans who would no doubt snap up a Destiny 1 remaster, especially those who have been desperate to play the official game on PC for years?

Let the speculation begin! Here’s what that Destiny 1 remaster could/will look like.
