Grand Theft Auto 6 has been at the center of countless leaks, with the ongoing CYBERLEEK situation seeing gameplay footage shared online before Rockstar Games could reveal it themselves. Some of the material has even included explicit content that the developer likely never intended for the public to see.
However, this isn’t the first time Rockstar has faced such a situation. In September 2022, a phishing attack exposed dozens of unfinished GTA 6 gameplay clips, with a new Bloomberg interview revealing just how difficult the incident was for the development team to deal with.
Closer Look At Original GTA 6 Leaks

Aaron Garbut, one of GTA 6’s development leads, reflected on the 2022 leaks in an interview with Bloomberg, describing the experience as deeply uncomfortable.
The leaked footage showed an early version of the game, prompting criticism of its graphics and animations despite the project still being years away from release. Although the individual responsible was eventually arrested, the footage had already spread across the internet, leaving Rockstar with little control over the public’s perception of its unfinished work.
Garbut compared the experience to “somebody’s wading through your dirty washing,” explaining how exposing unfinished work to millions of people felt like an invasion of privacy. He also described the incident as “weirdly invasive” and “quite hard to deal with on an emotional level.”
While his comments refer to the 2022 incident, Rockstar is now dealing with another major leak through CYBERLEEK, who has continued to share gameplay snippets online. Given the impact of the original incident, it’s understandable that the latest leaks could bring back similar feelings for those working on the game.
