Borderlands games are being review-bombed on Steam for a TOS change; however, modders have revealed that the main clause players are worried about always existed.
If you head over to the Steam pages of most of the Borderlands games, you will observe that the ‘Recent Reviews’ section says ‘Overwhelmingly Negative’, and that is a result of players review-bombing the franchise. According to a Reddit post, the review-bombing of Borderlands games results from a new EULA change that seemingly provides access to players’ personal information. Negative reviews have surged since Borderlands 2 became free on Steam. However, modders have now revealed that the clause players are getting angry about already existed.
Spotted by GamesRadar+, a post from EpicNNG on X (formerly Twitter) states that the Borderlands EULA change is “nothing new”. Epic also added a screenshot of a Discord message from a trusted Borderlands modder, Apple. Apple’s statement reveals there’s “a lot of misinformation and fear mongering concerning the new 2k TOS.” The modder explained that there is nothing different from what previously existed and “the main clause everyone’s freaking out about was already there”.
Apple added that the TOS change will not impact modding in any way. They elaborated that Gearbox Forums has had a modding section since Borderlands 1, and “they’ve never taken any steps against it, let alone legal action.”
In other news, Borderlands 4 has “twice the development budget of Borderlands 3″; however, the game’s price is unknown. Also, Randy Pitchford has apologised for stating ‘real fans’ would pay $80 for Borderlands 4. Do you think the review-bombing of Borderlands games will stop after the recent revelations?
