BetBoom captured the PGL Wallachia Season 8 trophy in emphatic fashion on Sunday, obliterating an in-form Aurora roster in 3-0 fashion.
The statement win puts BetBoom back in the conversation as a force in Tier 1 Dota 2 after a series of ‘so close yet so far’ results had kept them from the top silverware since June 2025 at PGL Wallachia Season 5.
Anticipated Grand Final becomes one-sided stomp
As the Grand Final clash loomed, it was set up to be a climactic end to the event, with the two best teams duking it out. Two teams that had gone 3-0 in the Swiss Stage, only differentiated by a narrow 2-1 Upper Bracket Final win for BetBoom.
Like that UB Final, the initial contest was over an hour in length, but in truth, it never felt as competitive as the game timer looked.
Betboom earned a lead through the laning phase, also getting the best of early engagements. The game settled into a long period of passive scaling as BetBoom built a comfortable gold lead.
Ilya ‘Kiritych’ Ulyanov delivered a 17/3/11 KDA, with Vitalie ‘Save-‘ Melnic and Vladislav ‘Kataomi`’ Semenov amassing 24 and 25 assists respectively as BetBoom finally powered up to take the Ancient.
Games 2 and 3 featured closer early games, which then exploded BetBoom’s favour around the 30-minute mark. Aurora could only secure four kills in what turned into a stomp, before Game 3 followed a similar pattern with Danil ‘gpk’ Skutin’s Puck blowing open the game, ultimately delivering BetBoom the PGL Wallachia Season 8 title.
For Aurora, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. Aurora only lost to BetBoom at the event, going 3-0 in Swiss and being sent to the Lower Bracket by BetBoom after a 2-1 Upper Bracket Final loss.
BetBoom complete dominant PGL Wallachia Season 8 run
It was not just the Grand Final that was dominant. BetBoom dropped only three games the entire event as they rolled the opposition both in the Swiss Stage and through the Upper Bracket.
The roster’s full run through the event was 3-0 in Swiss after defeating Virtus.pro 2-0, Liquid 2-0, and Falcons 2-1.
The playoffs proved to be undaunting for the roster, who had so often wilted in the later stages, defeating Spirit 2-0, Liquid again 2-1, and Aurora 2-1 to make the Grand Final, before the 3-0 Grand Final sweep.
While three of the top teams in Yandex, Tundra, and Spirit suffered from having to field stand-ins, there was little doubt about the legitimate nature of BetBoom’s run, considering the strength of their opposition and how they dealt with them.
BetBoom defeated the BLAST Slam VI winners in Liquid (twice), The International 2025 winners in Team Falcons, and Aurora twice, who have shown incredible runs both at DreamLeague Season 28 and in ESL One Birmingham 2026 groups, before the 7.41 somewhat derailed their tournament.
