Pokémon Champions just had its first VGC World Championship conclude, and now players are wondering what’s next for the game.
The upcoming Regulation Set M-C will add another 26 mons to Pokémon Champions, taking the roster to just over 220.
The update will add the Z-Megas as well as Mega Salamence, Mega Golisopod, and Rillaboom amongst others.
However, the trailer also hinted that Mega Heatran and other legendaries are finally coming to Champions.
Legendaries Confirmed for Pokémon Champions
Back in May, Pokémon Champions producer Masaaki Hoshino teased the addition of legendaries.
However, he claimed he didn’t expect them to be a permanent fixture, adding:
“I think there may be a time in the future when legendary Pokémon will also be usable, so in that sense, I don’t think that once they’re introduced, they’ll continue indefinitely.”
Still, it’s not known how legendary Pokémon will be handled in Champions.
Previously at VGC events, there have been restrictions on the number of legendaries, sometimes only allowing one box-art legendary and one other.
Pokémon Champions has not featured any limiting rulesets yet, but presumably we won’t see full legendary teams allowed.

Set M-C releases on Wednesday, September 9th, meaning we could see the first legendary Pokémon in the game as early as next week.
The very end of the trailer for the upcoming update shows the legendary Heatran, which got a new Mega Evolution in Pokémon Legends Z-A.
However, the fact that Z-Megas like Mega Absol Z and Mega Garchomp Z have been the cover stars of the set suggests fans will have to wait a little longer.
And now, well-known leaker Centro has claimed that Mega Heatran will be added in the following update, due sometime in December.
Considering Heatran has a Mega, most are assuming this will be update M-D, and the Mega Evolution gimmick will remain for this year.
This would also suggest the addition of other legendary megas, with the possibilities including:
- Rayqauza
- Mewtwo (X and Y)
- Latias
- Latios
- Diancie
- Zygarde
- Darkrai
