Best Animals For Breeding in Planet Zoo 2

Planet Zoo 2 has a sprawling roster of animals to select from, some of which are much easier to breed than others.

Frontier Developments has added fully aquatic and avian species in Planet Zoo 2 as some of the biggest additions to the game, all of which can be bred for new animals.

If you’re considering which animals to adopt for breeding, whether you’re looking to farm Conservation Credits or cash, Insider Gaming has some to consider.

Best Planet Zoo 2 Animals For Breeding

Wild Boar

The wild boar is a simple animal to look after in Planet Zoo 2, and with a small group required to fulfil social needs, you’ll be springing out more youngsters than you could ever need.

A minimum of three wild boar are required to meet social requirements, so if you put one male in with two females, that’s two ongoing pregnancies that can occur. With each litter consisting of two to five offspring, things can quickly take shape.

Additionally, it only takes a year for wild boar to mature, so you can get them out the door quickly when they grow up.

Common Warthog

Warthogs are similar to wild boar in terms of breeding, though you can have a pair of the opposite sex to meet social demands, and they’re super easy to breed.

Each litter can contain up to five offspring and it takes two years for them to reach maturity. In the meantime, they’ll likely breed again, so there’s a steady stream to utilize.

Long-Eared Owl

Many of the avian species in Planet Zoo 2 are easy to breed and have a large litter size, but the Long-Eared Owl is among the best options to consider.

Their requirements are basic, each litter consists of up to four babies, and they reach maturity in just a year. Additionally, they can be released to three Wildlife Reserves.

Long-Tailed Parakeet

Another avian option to consider is the long-tailed parakeet, which can have a social size of up to 12, making it easy to have several pairs. However, one thing to note is the species is monogamous.

Like the aforementioned owls, a long-tailed parakeet litter contains up to four young, which take two years to mature and can be released to the Sumatra Wildlife Reserve.

Common Ostrich

Sticking with the bird theme, albeit one that can’t take flight, ostriches are another decent option for easy breeding, and the fact they can live with several species increases their suitability for your zoo.

Each litter can contain up to four young and, with three years for maturity, you can establish a pipeline of offspring to release into Wildlife Reserves or sell on the trade market.

African Wild Dog

A pack of African wild dogs can lead to the establishment of several pairs of breeding partners, all of which can have a high return of young.

Each litter can contain as many as six individuals, so if you have more than one pair, there’s a large output that can be reached. Plus, with just a year for maturity, you can quickly ship them off elsewhere.

Red Deer

Red deer are among the most basic and easiest animals to take care of in Planet Zoo 2, and they are extremely easy to breed.

A minimum of three individuals are required for a social group and the species is polygynous, so you can house a male with up to eight females.

While the litter size is just a single offspring, the interbirth period is just three months, though one downside is it takes four years for the species to mature.

Galapagos Giant Tortoise

The Galapagos giant tortoise is another easy animal to take care of in Planet Zoo 2, with a bonus of being easy to breed and having a large litter size.

There are, however, some significant drawbacks, as while the litter size can contain up to six individuals, the interbirth period is 22 years, and it takes 25 years for a juvenile to mature.

Grey Wolf

A great option for an early carnivore to add to your zoo, breeding the grey wolf is easy, with a litter size of up to five, a gestation period of just two months, and none months between each pregnancy.

It takes two years for a grey wolf to mature, during which time you can easily breed the next crop, particularly if you opt for a larger pack with multiple breeding partners.

Blue & Black Wildebeest

You can pick your preferred choice between the two, but both species of Wildebeest are easy to breed and can yield strong results due to their required social size.

A group requires a minimum of four individuals and, as the species is polygynous, you can partner a male with up to 19 females to breed with.

Each litter may only yield one baby, but the interbirth period is just three months, and it takes two years for juveniles to mature.
