Planet Zoo 2 isn’t just about maintaining the animals inside your zoo, as there are also Wildlife Reserves and a wider scope of conservation to consider, with releasing animals a core mechanic.
Frontier Developments has added Wildlife Reserves to Planet Zoo 2, where you can follow the journey of your animals in their new lives, with key milestones to reach along the way.
There are two approaches to releasing animals in Planet Zoo 2, and Insider Gaming has all the crucial details for whichever method you opt for.
How to Release Animals to Wildlife Reserves in Planet Zoo 2

Releasing animals to Wildlife Reserves in Planet Zoo 2 requires creating Release Groups for the animal in question, with the requirements varying by species.
Some animals can be released as a single animal in a Release Group, while others require several of either the same or varying genders, so you’ll need to keep an eye on exactly what is needed.
Release Group information is not readily available, however, and must be researched ahead of time. Research Groups tend to be unlocked at the fourth level of researching an animal, and many provide a research gate that cannot be passed until you have completed at least one Release Group for the animal.
Creating a Release Group doesn’t necessarily mean you can release the animals to a Wildlife Reserve immediately, however, as there are other requirements that may need to be met, though there’s storage for up to 200 separate Release Groups, which should be more than enough.
How to Release Animals in Planet Zoo 2
Releasing animals in Planet Zoo 2 has the same approach as the first game if you’re not sending them to Wildlife Reserves, and can be done with a simple click of a button.
When viewing an animal’s specific screen in Planet Zoo 2, where the animals comfort level and key details are shared, a button along the bottom allows for the immediate release of a creature, offering a return of Conservation Credits.
There are some requirements, however, as any animal released must be fully grown into an adult, and you cannot release an animal that you have purchased with cash.
Aside from that, it’s a free rein and the quickest way to release animals, though it does mean you part ways with them completely and can’t follow their journey any further.
