A new announcement confirms that BeamNG.drive will be released for PS5 and PS5 Pro in 2026.
BeamNG.drive is a soft-body physics driving simulator that players may have seen at some point when scrolling through social media. It provides highly satisfying crash physics and a variety of vehicles across different terrains. Many have been wondering when will BeamNG.drive release for console and the answer is this year.
BeamNG.drive Announced for PS5 and PS5 Pro, Releases This Year
A new post on the PlayStation blog reveals that BeamNG.drive will release for PS5 and PS5 Pro in 2026, however, no date or window was provided. The announcement also comes with a new trailer that interested readers can check out below:
Accurate Crash Physics
BeamNG.drive is a game that is wildly popular for it’s crash physics and that’s only possible by simulating every component of the vehicle individually as a “network of nodes and beams that can flex under load, deform, or even break outright when pushed too far.” Due to this type of sumulation, no two crashes ever feel the same, and players get “true-to-life handling dynamics with incredibly accurate damage modeling”.
The developers reveal that physics engine updates at a rate of 2kHz, which means the vehicle is fully re-evaluated two thousand times every second, making the crash physics possible. Players will see the impact propagating through the structure of the vehicle through the smallest of crashes, even hitting the curb at a wrong angle.
Thusands of Vehicles With A Lot of Customization Freedom
As BeamNG.drive is a driving sim, players do receive a varrty of vehicle configurations across different categories, including supercars, sports cars, muscle cars, SUVs, minivans, mid-90s sedans, buses, taxis, limousines, desert trucks, rock crawlers and much more. Players can also use heavy machinery to drop things like a “40-ton marble block onto an unsuspecting van.”
With all the vehicles in BeamNG.drive on PS5, players will receive tons of customisation options too, and it goes really deep. From changing the paint job, to swapping the engine, suspension type, change drivetrain layout, fit different wheels and tires, add aftermarket performance parts and so much more, the options are almost limitless. What’s more, every change will make the car feel different on the road.
Other customization options include adjustable sway bars, ride height, tire pressure, locking differentials, high/low range transfer cases, triple-bypass shocks on the off-roaders, adaptive spoilers, and more.
Lots of Different Maps
When you have access to so many vehicles and that much customisation, you also need roads and other terrains to test the vehicle and BeamNG.drive on PS5 has you covered. Players will be offered over a dozen open world maps which range from coastal, mountain, desert, industrial, and suburban environments. There’s also a mission system that allows players to try out a selection of races, time trials, police chases, and other challenges. The free roam mode will be the best for really testing out the limits of the game.
In other news, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will receive a PS5 Pro version, and the devs want to support features like the upgraded PSSR. Additionally, a new listing on the ESRB website suggests that Gang Beasts is receiving a port for the PS5. What are your thoughts on BeamNG.drive releasing for PS5 and PS5 Pro in 2026?
