Good Games Group has launched the Balor Games publishing label, which focuses on producing “Triple I” games. Triple I refers to high-quality independent titles. This follows the acquisition of both the Humble Games and Firestoke catalogs.
The publishing company is led by former Humble Games leaders Alan Patmore and Mark Nash. They aim to be a curator of the highest-quality independent game titles and hope to mesh the resources and experience of a seasoned publisher with the independence that creatives want to preserve when launching indie games.
“For the developers we have worked with over the years, this moment is a reunion,” said Alan Patmore, CEO of Balor Games, in a statement. “The same leadership, and the same commitment to thoughtful publishing remain in place. What changes is our scale and our focus. Balor Games is built for inventors and backed by believers. To that end, it exists to be a seal of quality for independent games.”

The new label is also investing in the next generation of independent creators. It’s actively signing on to new projects, such as the co-op horror tactical shooter SCP: 5K. The label is backed by an investment from MEP Capital and plans to expand its publishing efforts while remaining selective and creating Partnerships rooted in creative alignment.
The games in the Balor catalog following the acquisitions include Slay the Spire, A Hat in Time, SIGNALIS, Coral Island, and more.
Among the games shown in the launch trailer for the label are Wildblue Skies, Threads of Time, and the aforementioned SCP: 5K. Wildblue Skies is a spiritual successor to the Star Fox franchise that many gamers feel Nintendo has forgotten about.
Insider Gaming will continue to report on any news coming from this brand-new publishing label.
