Arena Breakout Infinite is going in the direction of Escape from Tarkov and getting a permanent PvE mode. In a post on social media, the head of MoreFun Studios, the developer behind ABI, revealed that a new PvE mode will be made ready as ‘early as next season,’ which should arrive around July 2026.
This follows the addition of a limited-time or temporary mode called No Man’s Land, which landed in ABI in April and ended on May 8. This mode allowed users to raid into Valley, Farm, and TV Station without any other players roaming the environment before them.
ABI’s PvE Platform is Coming Soon
Almost two years ago, I sat down with Enzo Zhang, ABI’s producer and the head of MoreFun Studios, and spoke about the concept of a PvE platform. Back then, he said the game would never receive something akin to an offline mode because it would cost too much and would be too risky.
He said:
For ‘Solo Mode’ or ‘Offline Mode’, data computing needs to be done either on the server or the user end. If the data computing is done on the server to build the entire gaming environment for one user, the costs are very high. On the other hand, if the data computing is done on the user end, it exposes too much data to cheaters and hackers.
Right now, we don’t have an ideal solution yet.
Fast forward to today, and the team is preparing to introduce a permanent PvE platform to Arena Breakout Infinite, following in the footsteps of Escape from Tarkov. Two years ago, Battlestate Games added a PvE mode to the pioneering extraction shooter, and it has proven to be a remarkable success amongst fans.
On May 8, when ABI’s No Man’s Land rotation ended, Zhang posed a poll on social media, asking if there should be a permanent PvE mode with stronger bots and bosses. The result was a landslide in favor of adding such a mode, with 84.8% of respondents saying it should become a reality.
Earlier today, he followed up by saying, as a result of the poll, the permanent PvE mode will be prepared for the next season:
The decision was met with mixed feedback, with some worried that this would take development attention away from the core PvP platform. For the most part, adding a PvE platform is a great move, as it caters to the more casual audience that doesn’t want to spend their time worrying about other players or those who just want the extraction loop without the stress.
For now, the inner workings of Arena Breakout Infinite’s PvE mode are unclear, but watch this space.
