In February, Incursion Red River underwent an overhaul with the 1.3 update, which added a story arc (narrated by the one and only Jane Perry), a stack of AI improvements, and much more. Now, the team at Games of Tomorrow has given fans of the PvE extraction shooter a taste of what’s coming next.
In a blog post published online, the team revealed how they’re pushing beyond ‘the absolute limit’ they touched with 1.3, and there’s plenty in store for this exciting shooter.
Incursion Red River Has a Dense Roadmap
On Steam, the team at Games of Tomorrow revealed what’s lined up for Incursion Red River. As one of the top-rated extraction shooters on Steam, Incursion Red River has managed to keep things fresh despite being a PvE-exclusive game, which isn’t the type of title that typically does too well in the extraction space.
At the time of writing, Incursion Red River boasted thousands of strong reviews, and although it doesn’t maintain a huge audience, there’s enough of a dedicated following to keep the game going.
In a recent development update, the team stressed that there’s plenty in that pipeline.
For instance, a new map, Outskirts, is being fleshed out right now:
Outskirts is the first environment to introduce multi-faction gameplay. The area is a hotzone with the IGC at the airfield and UICS in the main boulevard, with the VLF fragmented in the jungle between.
We’re looking to reach a more modern feeling with this map as we move closer to an urban landscape; we can’t wait to show you more!
Delta, the newest map in Incursion, is getting more interior sections for players to explore, and that means there’ll be more loot spots to rifle through.
In terms of new weapons, there are nine lined up for future updates:
- KEL-TEC RFB
- Ruger LC Carbine
- M14 Carbine
- Morinco M305
- AS VAL
- VSS Vintorez
- KAC LAMG
- Makarov PM
- MK47
In the next update, scopes will be tweaked and optimized, movement and traversal will be boosted (high mantling!), and in-game audio and music will be finessed to ‘better match the pacing of gameplay and improve overall immersion.’
All this will go hand-in-hand with performance and optimization work, and some quality-of-life changes, like backpack stacking, referred to by the developers as backpack ‘rolling’.
Everything from animations to movement mechanics, and how you manage your hideout to dynamic world events, is being at least considered for the next update or two in Incursion Red River.
