14. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles
This spin-off to Assassin’s Creed reworked the whole formula the series was known for, adopting a 2.5D side-scrolling style gameplay that took us to appreciable settings like Russia and China. Even though the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles trilogy struggled to gain praise like the mainline games, it was still a breath of fresh air for hardcore fans of the series.
13. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate
What Assassin’s Creed Syndicate lacks in its mediocre story and repetitive combat, it makes up for in its beautiful setting of 19th-century London. The addition of two controllable protagonists for the first time in the series was a great change that added a new layer to the story. Even with all its flaws Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is a must-play for every fan of the series.

12. Assassin’s Creed Rogue
Assassin’s Creed Rogue introduced us to one of the most memorable protagonists in the entire series, Shay Cormac, in perhaps the most compelling narrative of the series. On top of that, Rogue’s stunning open-world made it a stellar product that was unfortunately outshined by Unity. But despite that, it holds up well years later.
11. Assassin’s Creed Mirage
Assassin’s Creed saw a return to the series’ roots after multiple RPG entries with Assassin’s Creed Mirage and it did not disappoint. With Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft took us to the breathtaking streets of Baghdad accompanied by the classic stealth and assassination gameplay. Mirage isn’t perfect but it is unquestionably a step in the right direction for the series going forward.

10. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla boasts possibly the most awe-inspiring landscapes in the series along with a combat system that is as brutal as ever. The game tackled the appealing setting of the Viking invasion of Britain which has always been on every fan’s bucket list. Valhalla’s repetitive story may have held it back but it is still a must-pick for anyone looking for a good gore-filled time.
9. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey expanded on the RPG formula established by Origins and made it even better. It stands out as a remarkable entry in the series, captivating players with its immersive open-world experience, mythos-rich narrative, and evolved combat system. Set against the backdrop of Ancient Greece, the game seamlessly blends historical accuracy with a touch of mythology, creating a dynamic world for players to get lost in.
8. Assassin’s Creed Origins
Ubisoft decided to completely overhaul the series with the release of Assassin’s Creed Origins which tripled down on RPG mechanics. This change was controversial for the fans who wanted a game with the classic Assassin’s Creed feel but it has since grown on a lot of them. The game’s magnificent landscapes of Ancient Egypt were a great addition to the historical roster of the franchise, and the rewarding combat and loot system still make it stand out in the series to this day.

7. Assassin’s Creed Unity
Back in 2014, Assassin’s Creed Unity got off to a bumpy start due to it featuring a subpar narrative while also being a buggy mess. On the positive side, the game was lauded for its impeccable recreation of 18th-century Paris along with its unsurpassed fluid parkour mechanics. Unity’s rocky launch and the underwhelming romance story may have landed it a spot among the worst Assassin’s Creed games for many, but its mind-blowing parkour makes it an underrated gem that is one of the best Assassin’s Creed games.
6. Assassin’s Creed
The game that marked the beginning of a legendary franchise and laid the groundwork for the many sequels showed a lot of potential. Even though it’s quite old, AC1 was a solid achievement in the realm of gaming when it came out and it gave us a memorable story set during the Third Crusade that gamers cherished for years. A couple of easy reasons to rank it among the top Assassin’s Creed games.

5. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations may not have introduced anything worthwhile to the series but it gave us a satisfying final chapter to fan-favorite protagonist, Ezio Auditore’s story. The game featured addictive combat and an exquisite setting of Constantinople that is worth exploring.
4. Assassin’s Creed 3
Assassin’s Creed 3 did not reach its expectations due to the high standard set by its predecessor but this ambitious entry set during the American Revolution still has a special place in every fan’s heart. When it launched, the meticulously recreated settings, from bustling colonial cities to the dense wilderness, kept players engaged as they roamed the vibrant world in the shoes of Connor Kenway. And if any newcomer were to pick it up now, they’d feel the same way.

3. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Ezio’s second adventure in the mesmerizing recreation of Rome is a sight to behold and everything the fans wanted, ultimately solidifying Brotherhood as a contender for the best Assassin’s Creed game of all time. At first glance Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood may seem like an expansion for Assassin’s Creed 2 but it is a full-fledged open-world game that improves upon everything that made its predecessor great.
2. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag surprised fans with its excellent naval combat system and an eye-catching Caribbean setting. The amount of content it offered, both on land and sea, kept fans hooked for many hours. Edward Kenway’s character was also an iconic entry as he was more of an anti-hero yet maintained the charm of previous protagonists. The naval combat, stellar stealth, and build-up on the AC3 lore made Black Flag a solid experience, and if you were to jump into it today, you’d clearly see why it’s one of the best Assassin’s Creed games.

1. Assassin’s Creed 2
Even though it lacks many of the features found in modern Assassin’s Creed games, Assassin’s Creed 2 is still the game that set the foundation for the series and made it gain worldwide fame.
It introduced us to Ezio Auditore, who is arguably still the best assassin in the entire series, and who we follow throughout the game’s revenge-driven plot while wandering in the elegant streets of Italy. Assassin’s Creed 2 is the essential AC experience that ups the ante for everything that made the franchise so popular.
