ROG XBOX Ally X20 Finally Adds an OLED Model to the Handheld Lineup

ASUS has unveiled the new ROG XBOX Ally X20 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ROG at this year’s Computex expo. This stunning handheld iterates on the XBOX Ally range introduced last year and evolves marvellously, with ASUS (finally) equipping the X20 with an OLED panel.

The X20 is exclusive to the anniversary edition, which comes bundled with a pair of all-new ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses. It’s a high-tech, high-spec bundle that’ll have gamers on the go dizzy with capabilities.

XBOX Ally X20 Features Revealed

At Computex 2026, ASUS revealed the ROG XBOX Ally X20 handheld, designed to pair perfectly with fancy gold-accented XREAL R1 Edition AR glasses. This will allow those who like to game on the go to do so from a perspective they might have never experienced before.

But how does the XBOX Ally X20 differ from the standard XBOX Ally X?

Well, the X20 comes with a sumptuous ROG Nebula HDR display featuring a 7.4-inch OLED panel, something never seen before in ASUS’ handheld lineup. The unit also comes with TMR joysticks, which allow users to enjoy everything from racers to first-person shooters with surprising accuracy

The X20’s screen size has been maximized over previous models, with ASUS cutting out a 60% smaller bezel around the top of the display for ‘a more immersive gaming experience.’

What’s most impressive about the X20 is the base shell. This unit boasts a translucent black design that allows you to glimpse the inner workings of this beautiful handheld, which has been touched up with gold details for that extra visual pop.

ASUS invites users to pair the X20 with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition AR glasses, which can be connected to the X20 via USB-C to produce a 171-inch virtual screen across a 240Hz display with ultra-low latency. That’s some incredible gaming on the go, if you ask me.

Under the hood, the X20 boasts similar specs to the XBOX Ally X:

  • 24 GB of LPDDR5X RAM
  • 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage
  • AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor

When I reviewed the XBOX Ally X, I dubbed it the ultimate gaming handheld, but the X20 might take that crown. Stay tuned, because at the time of writing, neither a release date nor a price was confirmed for this device.
