EA FC 26 is receiving a World Cup game mode, titled The World’s Game, and it’s set to release on June 4, 2026, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup taking place this Summer.
Sadly, EA don’t have the licensing rights to the official tournament, so it won’t be an entirely authentic experience, but as far as a playable World Cup goes, this is as close as it gets.
The World’s Game Further Details
The news comes from PlayStation’s latest blog post, which details the upcoming Days of Play deals. However, tucked away in the June PlayStation Plus games line-up was a small bit about EA FC 26, which read:
Available in-game from June 4, The World’s Game update introduces a brand-new international tournament mode with 48 national teams and new authentic stadiums to play in. Take on international-themed Manager Live Challenges and step into Player Career with new international ICONs and Heroes.
If you keep up to date with EA FC 26, you’ll know that leaks have been running rampant surrounding The World’s Game update, with the ever-reliable FGZ covering them all in great detail. However, thanks to this announcement from PlayStation, it’s finally time to confirm some details.
48 national teams will be playable in the new update, a 19-team boost from the currently available 29, as you use them to play your own rendition of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup. Additional authentic stadiums are on the way to increase immersion, as well as official licensing for the national teams.
