There’s only so much you can do to truly evolve Call of Duty multiplayer maps. We’ve seen speeding trains, maps littered with doors, and matches contested in the dark and rain. However, Modern Warfare 4 has a new, constantly-changing idea for a map, and it sounds like one of the most inventive ever.
Infinity Ward has come hot out of the blocks to push Modern Warfare 4 as a new and fresh CoD game. IW claims there will be ‘No BS’ or Silly Skins in Modern Warfare 4, and that the Campaign will ‘return to series’ roots.
We’ve already seen the launch MW4 multiplayer maps, but one, in particular, stands out.
Infinity Ward Has 900 Combinations For MW4 Kill Block Map

Episode 2 of Infinity Ward’s new series about MW4 breaks down the ‘Philosophy of Multiplayer.’
It talks about the natural progression of online multiplayer: Systems, style, gameplay balancing, and, of course, maps.
A huge section of the video is dedicated to the new Kill Block map. Geoff Smith, the game’s Studio MP Creative Director, talked about the ‘next level’ of map design evolution, and one MW4 example that is ‘living’ and ‘keeps changing.’
Kill Block is a Shoot House (originally debuted in 2019’s Modern Warfare) size map, consisting of three ‘slabs.’ The map will change every match, with the slabs being randomly decided before a game.
Smith claimed that IW can do ‘upwards of over 900’ different slabs to feature in MW4, but technical limitations will likely bring this down to 500.
Check out from 4:21 onwards for a full breakdown of Kill Block and the map’s creative concept.
Let’s be honest, we want to see more of this innovation in Call of Duty multiplayer. I think this sounds like a great idea if IW pulls it off, but what do you think? Let us know through the Insider Gaming Discord.
