BREAKING: Xbox CEO Announces Game Pass Price Drop, Effective Immediately

Asha Sharma, the new(ish) CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has announced a bombshell Xbox Game Pass price drop that starts today. In a new blog post, the team revealed that Game Pass Ultimate will drop from $29.99 to $22.99, effective immediately.

Further, PC Game Pass will drop from $16.49 a month to $13.99 a month. It was noted that prices ‘may vary by region’, but any drop is great news in a world where the subscription service was quickly becoming unaffordable.

Huge Changes Coming to Game Pass

Asha Sharma has unveiled a step in the right direction for Xbox Game Pass in a new blog post. On the Xbox Wire platform, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, who stepped into the role after Phil Spencer retired earlier this year, revealed a price decrease of almost 25% on Game Pass Ultimate.

It was also confirmed that Call of Duty titles will not join Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch, starting this year.

She wrote:

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will continue to have access to hundreds of games on Xbox console and PC including current Call of Duty titles, in-game benefits, online console multiplayer, and major day one releases.

Our players cover a wide breadth of geographies, preferences, and tastes, so while there isn’t a single model that’s best for everyone, this change responds to a lot of feedback we’ve gotten so far. We’ll continue to listen and learn.

Since stepping into her role, Asha Sharma has made some sizeable changes and announcements in the Xbox space. Earlier this year, she effectively shut down the ‘This is an Xbox’ advertising campaign, stressing that it didn’t ‘feel like Xbox’.
