Windrose has sailed into an incredible early access release, and there’s a ton of content to unpack already. It’s seen players scouring islands for the best items to create a perfect character build, and there’s one weapon that everyone needs to find: The Rapier of a Thousand Cuts.
This one-handed sword is an incredible early to midgame option, especially for those of you heading down the Precision route for your character build. However, it’s not so easy to get a hold of, as you can’t just craft it at a workbench.
Instead, you’ll need to find it, and Insider Gaming has all of the details about where it spawns in Windrose: check them out below.
How To Get Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts In Windrose

Unlike the demo, there’s no guaranteed place to find the Rapier of a Thousand Cuts, as it is found as a random loot drop.
However, there are some places where you’ll have a better chance of finding it. Perhaps the best of the bunch are the Traveller’s Camps on your starting island. You’ll find specific chests that make them worth exploring regularly, and inside one could be the Rapier of a Thousand Cuts.

If you have no luck there, try searching the Blackbeard and Hands Camps. These are infamous for high-value loot, and even if you don’t find the weapon, they’re still worth plundering for the other goodies—especially in the early game.
Rapier Of A Thousand Cuts Stats & Unique Effects
The Rapier of a Thousand Cuts is notorious because of its bleed damage, which can stack up to five times to deal massive continuous damage.
Here’s the unique effect of the Rapier of a Thousand Cuts:
- Dealing damage applies bleeding. Stacks up to five times. Each stack deals 25 damage per second.
Additionally, if you Ascend the Rare one-handed weapon to Epic rarity, it’ll gain another unique effect:
- Bleed damage dealt while holding this weapon restores Temporal Health.
These combined make the weapon a perfect choice for those of you chasing a Precision-based build for your pirate, and it’s especially effective against bosses; just get your five strikes in, and step back and watch their health bar drain away.

This being said, it’s not the best when fighting crowds of enemies at once. Pair it with a pistol to make it even better, but you’ll want to target enemies one-by-one to make the most of its direct attacking style and bleed damage.
