The ability to adjust an FOV slider allows you to zoom in and out of the default perspective. With so much happening on-screen in Borderlands 4 at times, a console FOV slider could help you see something out of the corner of your eye at the last second.
If you didn’t know, FOV stands for ‘field of view.’ When you start up a shooter like Borderlands 4, a default amount of zoom is applied to your perspective. Many FPS games give you the option to adjust this to enhance the zoom or pull the camera out so your peripheral vision is greater.
Borderlands 4 has many settings to go through—including graphics, performance, and aiming. Let’s do a deep dive into FOV slider details.
Can You Change Borderlands 4 FOV Slider on Console?

Borderlands 4 does not have an FOV slider setting as of writing on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, meaning you need to get used to the default camera setting Gearbox has settled on.
The real reason has yet to be revealed—more on this later—but if you’re playing Borderlands 4 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or later on Switch 2, you can’t change the game’s FOV slider.
Curiously, the option is available on PC and has been since launch. If an FOV slider is an integral part of your gameplay and the ability to tweak the settings, then you have one avenue to explore at least!
When is FOV Slider on Console Coming to Borderlands 4?
Gearbox has confirmed that it’s “Currently exploring how to bring these [FOV] sliders to both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions” of Borderlands 4.
On September 12, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford took to X to suggest that a lack of an FOV slider was because it “Might affect fairness.” Even now, we’re still not sure what this means. Borderlands is a cooperative multiplayer game with no focus on online multiplayer. So it’s a strange one. There are suggestions that messing around with the FOV slider could affect the game’s already imperfect console performance.
However, the company’s head honcho asked the Borderlands 4 community for its thoughts on an FOV slider through a poll. Nearly 30,000 votes later, and the verdict was unanimous: “FOV slider or GTFO!“
Quickie for console friends: FOV settings: There’s some dreams I have where an FOV setting might affect fairness. I can’t really talk about it yet, but I see this is important to you so we’re looking at it. Vote here:
It took two days for the main Borderlands 4 X account to confirm that an FOV slider for console is happening:

Not having an FOV slider at launch isn’t a dealbreaker. However, it’s a common graphical feature you’d expect in a AAA title like Borderlands 4. Are you desperate to adjust the FOV right now? Is this a big oversight by Gearbox? Leave a comment via the Insider Gaming forum.
