How to Get Shiny Weapons in Borderlands 4

Borderlands 4 significantly increases the gameplay loop with a huge overhaul to the endgame, and there are even Shiny Weapons to hunt down. Here are all the details you need.

In Borderlands 4, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode makes major changes to the endgame cycle, making bosses easier to farm for drops than ever before, but the grind kicks off as soon as you load the game for the first time.

The discovery of Shiny Weapons in Borderlands 4 provides an entirely new chase for players, and we’ve got everything you need to know.

There is no guaranteed method to finding Shiny Weapons in Borderlands 4, as Phospine weapons are a completely random drop.

This works similarly to the Pokémon franchise, where Pokémon have a rare chance of being ‘Shiny’ and having a different appearance. Unlike Pokémon, however, we don’t currently know the base odds of the chances of finding a Phospine Weapon in Borderlands 4, nor do we know if there’s any way to push the odds in your favor.

You’ll know as soon as one drops, however, as the weapon will have an orange outline and a rainbow glow coming off the item, so it’s pretty much impossible to miss.

Further details could be shared during Borderlands 4’s lifespan, so we’ll update this article with any necessary details when they emerge.

What Are Shiny Weapons in Borderlands 4

Shiny Weapons in Borderlands 4 provide no stat boosts and have merely cosmetic differences, so they won’t be game-changing to your build.

However, much like Shiny Pokémon, the Phospine weapons are the ultimate chase item and are a great way to flex on your friends. Aside from bragging rights, and those who want to collect them all, they don’t provide any edge, though.

Shiny Weapons are completely different to Pearlescent Weapons, which are returning to the franchise, which means the list of potential loot to hunt down is larger than ever before.

While some unlocks and loot are locked in the endgame, however, Shiny Weapons appear to be available from the off, so you might strike lucky early on.
