In previous Borderlands games, if you beat a story boss, that was it until a new game plus playthrough. Borderlands 4 changes up the playbook and lets you replay previously beaten bosses with ease.
Borderlands 4 boss encounters are just as fun as any other game in the series. The theater of the pre-boss cutscene, the arena itself, and the onslaught of minions you need to flick away from you like annoying flies. The bosses themselves are a spectacle, and they don’t have to be a one-time fling.
If you want to replay a boss in Borderlands 4, the method is very straightforward.
How To Farm Bosses in Borderlands 4

To replay any boss in Borderlands 4, you must head back to the original arena where you fought the boss, locate the entrance, and activate the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine that appears once you’ve beaten the boss for the first time.
Here are some easy steps to follow in case you’re not sure what we mean:
- Defeat any boss in Borderlands 4.
- Collect their loot and leave the area.
- Come back to the entrance of the boss fight after this.
- Next to the vending machines should be a new Moxxi’s Big Encore vending machine.
- Pay the fee it requires.
- Once you’ve done this, head down into the boss room.
- The boss will now respawn, and you get to face the same boss fight all over again!
The price tag for each Moxxi’s Big Encore machine varies, so make sure you’ve got some spare change on standby. It’s still a better alternative than having to wait for your next go-around courtesy of Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
Why Should I Replay Bosses in Borderlands 4?
Replaying Bosses in Borderlands 4 is the perfect way to farm loot and increase your chance of getting Legendary Weapons.
Everyone has a different way they go about loot. Many like to advance through a Borderlands game naturally and take everything as it comes. Others are impatient and want good gear fast. The Borderlands 4 pre-order bonuses give you a slight advantage at the start, but after this, farming loot is the key.
The Splashzone boss method we’ve outlined in our Borderlands 4 early-game legendaries farming guide is the opportune way to capitalise on replaying boss fights.
If you have the time and patience, you can keep replaying a boss fight, farming the loot, selling it, and keep going until you get weapons you’re happy with—or until luck strikes and you get a legendary!
