Marvel’s Wolverine Release Window Set & Venom Game Development Ongoing, It’s Claimed

New claims about Insomniac’s upcoming projects have surfaced online. It seems that Marvel’s Wolverine is targeting a 2026 release window, and the Venom project hasn’t been cancelled; development is still ongoing.

Mavrel’s Wolverine is easily the most anticipated project right now from Insomniac Games, and players have been waiting to hear more about the game since it was revealed back in 2021. Insider Gaming recently exclusively revealed that the game is “likely to be at PlayStation’s next State of Play,” and now, new claims about Insomniac’s Wolverine and Venom have surfaced online.

Marvel’s Wolverine Reportedly Aiming for 2026 Release

Insomniac marvel's wolverine game

Insomniac Games suffered a massive ransomware attack in 2023, which revealed a plethora of information about their upcoming projects, including Marvel’s Wolverine and Venom, among others. The leaks had indicated that Wolverine will be targeting a 2026 release window, and now a report by MP1ST states that “sources familiar with the situation” have informed them that Wolverine is on course for the 2026 release window.

Marvel’s Venom Development Status and Story Details Reportedly Revealed

The same sources that provided information about Marvel’s Wolverine stated that Venom’s development is ongoing. No information was revealed about the latter’s release window or development progress. Moreover, a different source also provided MP1ST with story details for Marvel’s Venom; however, they were unable to verify them.

Starting with the narrative claims of the Venom game, it appears that Eddie Brock, everybody’s beloved Venom, will become the protagonist in the upcoming title. Anti-Venom will also be a part of this game, but it isn’t the one we saw Peter using in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Instead, it’s a different, more frightening version, which will end up with Eddie Brock, who can retain his persona while using Anti-Venom.

Lastly, the report also revealed that Spider-Verse’s Miguel O’Hara, or Spider-Man 2099, will be featured in one of the upcoming projects, and Insomniac Games is currently working on the character. It is unclear which game this character will be a part of, whether that is Venom or Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.

Nevertheless, as none of the information above comes from an official source, readers should treat it with caution.

In other news, Resistance 4 was pitched by Insomniac, but PlayStation turned it down. What are your thoughts on Marvel’s Wolverine releasing in 2026 and Venom still being in development? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
