Update: We’ve tested the chat function in the EA app and can no longer see any censoring of ‘ARC Raiders’ Original story continues below…
Users have found that if you type in “ARC Raiders” into EA’s chat system, the two words are replaced by a bunch of hashtags. This is potentially linked to Embark Studios’ CEO, Patrick Söderlund, being a former EA vice president and CEO of DICE.
ARC Raiders generated a lot of interest earlier in 2025 with its April beta playtest. It looked, played, and handled really well, and people were clamoring over one another to get keys to enter. The game is set for release October 30.
It’s been found that EA is censoring mentions of the game in its chat system, but not other games.
ARC Raiders Mentions Banned by EA, It’s Claimed

X user @OHPatriot04 (through @ARCRaidersNews) was testing out different game names using EA’s chat feature.
A video showed them typing in Call of Duty, Marathon, GTA, Fortnite, and Escape From Tarkov. They all displayed as normal. One game wouldn’t show, though: ARC Raiders. Instead, the game’s name is censored and doesn’t display.
Apparently, @EA is censoring Embark Studios in their chat systems. “ARC Raiders” is replaced with ####. This doesn’t happen for any other title. See:
It’s unlikely this is Photoshop trickery, but it could be a possibility, so keep this in mind. If it is real, it’s quite a remarkable piece of censorship by EA. To reiterate, Embark Studios’ CEO is Patrick Söderlund, who was executive vice president at EA before transitioning to chief design officer.
He’s also been CEO of DICE—one of the main forces behind Battlefield. Söderlund left EA in 2018 after over a decade and went on to form Embark Studios—part of the Nexon network. It’s hard to tell exactly what EA’s motive behind this action is, so do you think it’s purely a coincidence? Or is it an innocent technical error? Let us know via the Insider Gaming forum.
