Grounded 2 is now available in Game Preview status, but it’s by no means the end of the road for the title, with the addition of Tier 3 Omni-Tool Upgrades planned alongside a wealth of other updates.
The Omni-Tool is the most valuable item in Grounded 2, unlocking the ability to collect key resources from Acorns, and the game’s availability in Xbox Game Pass is a huge bonus. With even more content to come, there’s a lot to look forward to.

When are Tier 3 Omni-Tool Upgrades Coming to Grounded 2?
Tier 4 Omni-Tool Upgrades will be added to Grounded 2 in the Winter 2025 Roadmap, the second major update after the Game Preview launch.
The Grounded 2 Roadmap details plans for the next three updates, set for Fall 2025, Winter 2025, and Summer 2026. Future plans have also been outlined, although no timeframe has been provided for them.
Tier 3 Omni-Tools are one of the highlights of the Winter 2025 update, which also introduces two new bugs, the Cricket and Earwig, and a Ladybug Buggy. There will also be new variants of existing insects, upgrades to the PEEP.R feature, and new builds.
In the Summer 2026 update, Tier 4 Omni-Tool Upgrades are lined-up, while Obsidian Entertainment’s future plans include new Omni-Tool unlocks.
All Grounded 2 Omni-Tool Upgrades
In the Game Preview launch, the first two tiers of Omni-Tool upgrades are available. In future, there will be up to five Omni-Tool upgrades for each ability in Grounded 2.
Unlike the first game, the key tools of the Axe, Shovel, Hammer, and Wrench are all contained in a single item, saving you inventory space and crafting resources, as upgrades are applied immediately, and it doesn’t require creating a brand-new tool.
