The UK Age Verification Laws have been introduced to further protect children from harmful content. Still, sneaky gamers have found you can easily bypass the checks using Death Stranding 2’s photo mode to conceal your identity.
July 25 will go down as one of the most significant days in UK history. The government finally ushered in its ‘Online Safety Act’, requiring individuals to confirm their identity to access certain sites. Many gaming sites have been hit by the law change. However, in a plot twist I, nor anyone else, probably saw coming, it’s Death Stranding 2 to the rescue.
UK Age Verification Being Bested by Death Stranding 2’s Sam Bridges

One of the main ways to prove your identity with UK Age Verification laws is facial recognition. Game developer Dany Sterkhov took to X to reveal they’d used Death Stranding 2’s photo mode to capture Sam Bridges and use his face to get around the safety measure.
“You can use Death Stranding’s photo mode to bypass Discord’s age verification,” they said in a post.
Their X post showed the process they went through, and how they went about capturing Sam’s face from Death Stranding 2 to please the age verification system.

It’s unconfirmed if this works with every game. I can’t imagine many other titles will be as effective. Death Stranding 2’s hyper-realistic graphics are clearly working, but I find it concerning how quick and easy it was to find a loophole like this. We’ll continue to monitor for any further updates.
