Remedy has acknowledged FBC: Firebreak’s launch week issues and released an immediate patch with several fixes, including faster progression and economy changes.
FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment’s new three-player co-op first-person shooter, is off to a bumpy start, currently standing at a “Mixed” rating on Steam. The developers have acknowledged the problems during the launch week and released an immediate patch to rectify some issues, with other changes coming in the future. Learn more about FBC: Firebreak’s new patch below.
FBC: Firebreak Patch 1.2 is Now Live
Remedy Entertainment has released a lengthy blog post explaining to the community how they will improve FBC: Firebreak through this patch, while promising other fixes in the near future. The latest patch aims to make progression faster and more rewarding, and some economy changes improve how players earn and spend currencies in the game.
Improved Onboarding and User Interface
The developers want to improve the player’s first-hour experience through FBC: Firebreak’s new patch. They have observed some onboarding issues, where the game’s systems aren’t appropriately explained, players don’t know how to use tools, and there is a lack of clarity on what to do in Jobs. The developers have also observed that players at a higher weapon tier have a much better time than players at a lower tier. The problem seems to be the long grind to get to these higher tiers.
Remedy will introduce user-interface clarity to improve onboarding, which will help communicate information to players better. This includes information on what to do in jobs, how to be more effective, better readability on harmful conditions, better objective markers and more.
Job Access is Now Easier
The new FBC Firebreak patch will also make access to Jobs easier, allowing players to start their experience with a full three-zone Hot Fix Job Run (Clearance Level 3). Players are no longer required to play each Job’s first two Clearance Levels. The developers understood that limiting players in the first zone was “neither tutorializing players, helping matchmaking, nor players’ perception of the full extent of the Jobs”. Now players have to complete full Jobs to progress to the next Job, and this also unlocks a Corruption option for that Job.
Faster Progression and Gear Unlocks
Remedy understands that the players feel that the ring is too slow and that it is taking too long to try new builds or stronger weapons and equipment. The developers have also revealed that 90% of their players are not picking up the currency required to unlock items from Requisition and Perks during missions. The currency in question is Lost Assets, which are found in Shelters in random locations and dropped by powerful enemies.
Lost Assets and Research Samples will be “clearly highlighted visually” after FBC: Firebreak’s patch 1.2, and the cost of all unlockables has been rebalanced, too. Operational Requisitions have also been split into two: Expressions and Essentials. Experessions features all cosmetics (sprays, armor sets) and Essentials features weapons, gear and equipment. Moreover, essentials like Altered Augments, Improvised Devices, and powerful weapons are now easier to access. All these changes will help players unlock and purchase gear much faster.
